Mrs. Mae Ellen Hindmon

Mrs. Mae Ellen Hindmon, age 81, of 24 Ridgehaven Drive, Rome, Garden Lakes Community, formerly of Cedartown, passed away Friday, June 23, 2006, at her residence.

Mrs. Hindmon was brn in Polk County on July 15, 1924, daughter of the late Emory Preston Shiflett and the late Sally Mae Davis Shiflett. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Hindmon on October 8, 1991; by four sisters, Addie Ruth Cain, Faye Cox, Jewell Shiflett and Sarah Griggs, and by a brother, Whitson Shiflett. She was employed for 15 years with the Pepperell Manufacturing Co. in Lindale but prior to her retirement, she was employed for 15 years with I.T.E. in Tucker. She was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Terry Dwight Hindmon, Douglasville; two sisters, Mrs. Mamie Marks, Rome, and Mrs. Mozelle Gayton, Loganville; five brothers, Dewey Shiflett, and his wife, Betty Lou, Lindale, Albert Shiflett, and his wife, JoAnn, Lindale, Wallace Shiflett, and his wife, JoAnn, Lindale, Charles Shiflett, and his wife, Peggy, Kennesaw, and Kenneth Shiflett, and his wife, Betty, Rome; three grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jim Glaze and the Rev. George Nix officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Cedartown.

The family will receive friends at Henderson and Sons Funeral Home this evening from 6 until 8 p.m. At other hours, they may be contacted at the residence.

Pallbearers are requested to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and include the following nephews: Tim Shiflett, Chris Shiflett, Preston Cain, Larry Cain, John Gayton, James Cox, Ben Shiflett, Greg Shiflett, and Jeff Shiflett.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home has charge of the funeral arrangements.
