U.S. Congressman. He became active with his brothers in a successful flour business, was on the board of managers of the Society for the Reformation of Juvenile Delinquents in New York City (1845-66) and was Treasurer, (1857-66). In 1849, he was elected as a Whig to the Thirty-first Congress, serving until 1851. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he continued with his city civil duties and was president of the Mechanics & Traders’ Insurance Company, until his death.
