The birth year on his tombstone is most likely an oversight and/or a continuation of a misnomer that began when he was first married, as the 1900 census and his WWI draft registration states he was born 12 Aug 1891. As well, there is a Peoria County birth record for a "Clide E. Haden" born to Eugene Haden and Catharine Sharbine, on

12 Aug 1891. The record is listed in chronological order and there is no other record listed in the same birth registry for any other Haden or Hayden, born 12 Aug 1892.

Like his brothers had done, Rodney added the "Y" to HADEN, between 1910 & 1920.

The last action participated in would be the breaking of the Hindenburg line on 29 Sep 1918, in which their unit had 396 fatalities and 753 wounded out of a total of 1,662 men who began the battle. It can reasonably be inferred that Rodney did not participate in battle and soon departed Europe, within months of his arrival. Source: History of the 107th infantry, U.S.A., Gerald F. Jacobson, p 506. None of the men listed as "replacements" were wounded or killed, unlike the original Company K members whose many fatalities and injuries were documented.
