Timothy N. Hill, age 63 of Grand Rapids, MN died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011 at his home.
Timothy was born in 1948 in Grand Rapids, Minn., to John and Ardell (Nelson) Hill. He graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1966 and served in the U. S. Army in Germany. Following his discharge from the military, Timothy lived in many places across the U.S. and later returned to Grand Rapids. He was employed at various jobs in construction and maintenance and retired due to health issues. Timothy loved hunting, fishing, camping, making bird houses and working on cars.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, John "Jack" Hill.
Timothy is survived by two sons, Zachary (Tiffany Grigsby) Hill of Grand Rapids, Minn., Jesse (Eileen Scovel) Hill of Grand Rapids, Minn.; two sisters, Rebecca Brown of Grand Rapids, Minn., Terri (Jim) Saleture of Grand Rapids, Minn.; one brother, James Hill of Rushville, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Georgia Hill of Melissa, Texas; two grandsons, Carter Hill and Caleb Hill; many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 15 from 1 until the 2 p.m. Memorial Service with full military honors at Rowe Funeral Home in Grand Rapids. Rev. Marva Jean Hutchens will officiate. Burial will be in Itasca-Calvary Cemetery in Grand Rapids, Minn., at a later date.

An explosion and resulting fire Wednesday (Sept 7, 2011) morning in a house located south of Grand Rapids has claimed the life of a Grand Rapids man.
Timothy Nelson Hill, 63, died from smoke inhalation, according to Itasca County Sheriff's Department Investigator Dean Scherf. A small dog also died from the explosion and fire. Foul play is not suspected in the fire, which also destroyed the house.
