Kim Renee Cates October 17, 1957 - September 5, 2011 Kim Renee Cates, who was most affectionately known as "Mama Cates," was born and raised in Bakersfield, CA. She was a graduate of Bakersfield High School. Kim was a devoted wife to her husband, Paul, and a loving and supportive mom to her sons, Cody and Cole. Kim worked for Horace Mann Elementary School. Her passions were camping out in the desert, reading books, and watching dog championships and old movies. She was a loyal participant in Dirt Diggers MC, AMA Dist. 37 events. Kim was one of the original members of "Team B.O.O.B." (Babes of Old Bikers), and requested that her "Relay For Life" team be named the same. She loved to dance and listen to all kinds of music, from Aerosmith to Dwight Yoakam; but her #1 favorite band was the "Token Okies"! In September of 2010, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and she remained adamant and committed to finding a cure. The family would like to thank each and every one of you, family and friends, and all who supported her cause, fight, and determination to end this disease. A special thanks to Hoffmann Hospice and CBCC. And, in the infamous words of Mama Cates, "Wakka, Wakka!" Love and God bless, to all of you. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Chapel, 3700 River Blvd. Visitation will not be scheduled.
