Winifred Walters Marion, 95, died Monday, July 6, 2009, at her home in Marks. She was born Sept. 13, 1913, in Shubuta to William Jesse Walters and Winifred Mason Walters. She was formerly of Van Vleet. She was a seamstress in Houston and Okolona for 50 years.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Houston Funeral Home in Houston. Eulogies will be given by her grandsons. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Van Vleet.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Marion Thomas of Van Vleet and Rebecca Marion Swilley and John of Marks; two sisters, Irma Davis of Okolona and Jean Waite of Normandy, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, Donna Wacaser, David Baker, Keith Thomas, Mark Thomas, Beverly Guisinger, Gayla Hodnett, Zane Alford, Victor Alford, Chad Alford; 17 great-grandchildren, Jennifer Klaver, Josh Baker, Matthew Baker, Justin Thomas, Justan Vance, Kelli Thomas, Corey Guisinger, Lauren Guisinger, Tyler Hodnett, Shea Hodnett, Shelby Alford, Erin Alford, Ali Alford, Grayson Alford, Nicki Moore, Cody Alford, Victoria Alford; one great-great-grandchild, Kylee Moore.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Davis Marion, on Jan. 17, 1978; one daughter, Barbara Marion Baker; her parents; three sisters, Ila Philips, Vermel Proffitt, Ruth Cole; and a brother, George Walter
