Mrs. Rose Josephine Smith, 69, of Hometown, Putnam County, died Oct. 12, 1990, in St. Francis Hospital. She was a native of Boomer and a 33-year resident of Hometown. She was a member of Hometown Church of God Mission. Surviving: husband, Basil O. Smith, Sr.; daughters, Nancy Kelly of Eleanor, Mary Lou Hicks(deceased) of Nitro; son, Basil O. Jr. of Hometown; sisters Gladys Cobb of Hometown; brothers, James Coon of Nitro, William Robert Coon of Carolina; six grandchildren.

He was born in Putnam County, WV and lived in Putnam County at Poca. Her parents were Arnold Coon & May Cook Coon. She was born in Kanawha County, WV and lived in Putnam County at Plymouth.
