Marilyn L. McWilliams , 79, of Mount Pleasant, died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at the Henry County Health Center.
Born Dec. 22, 1922, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Harry Arthur and Stella Gertrude Hoover Ford. She married Wade McWilliams in December 1941 at the St. Alphonsus Rectory. He preceded her in death.
She was a 1946 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School.
Mrs. McWilliams was the assistant to the administrator and bookkeeper at the Mount Pleasant Hospital for several years. She also worked several years at the Klein Hospital in Burlington and then as a technician for American Health Profiles and as Home Health Aid for the Henry County Health Center.
She was a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
Survivors include one son, Charles "Chuck" McWilliams of Mount Pleasant; two sisters, Doris M. Lee of Mount Pleasant and Kathleen Wholey of Fayetteville, N.C.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, one brother and one sister.
The rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. today with the vigil of prayer at 7 p.m. followed by the family receiving friends until 8:30 p.m. at the gathering space of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mount Pleasant. The body will lie in state from 2 to 8:30 p.m.
The mass of the resurrection for Mrs. McWilliams will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with the Rev. Nick Adam officiating. Burial will be in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Beatty Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
