Marietta C. Walsh
(April 27, 1922 - June 8, 2010)
Saratoga Springs, NY - Marietta (Marie) C. Walsh, 88, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2010, at Saratoga Hospital in the presence of family.
Born Marietta Corbo on April 27, 1922, in Witherbee, Essex County, NY, she was the only child of Joseph M. and Rose DeSimone Corbo, who emigrated from Italy to the United States.

Following her graduation from high school in 1939 from Sherman Park Seminary in Port Henry, NY, she received a scholarship and studied voice with The Metropolitan Opera Star Madame Louise Homer, in St Augustine, Florida, and Bolton Landing, NY. She continued her vocal training at Fredonia State Teachers' College in Fredonia, NY, The Julliard School of Music, and the Columbia University Opera Workshop in New York City. She gave many voice recitals in various locales between Port Henry and New York City in the 1940s. She retired in 1985 from Trans World Airlines after more than two decades, having served as a Charter Sales Specialist.

She married Joseph Pierce Walsh in 1949. Her husband predeceased her by many years.

Marietta loved her music, art, Lake George and the Adirondacks, and all of God's creatures. As a young child in Port Henry she would regularly bring injured birds to the local doctor, her neighbor, to save.

She is survived by her loving son, Joseph M. Walsh, his wife, Marian Wait Walsh, of Saratoga Springs; her beloved grandsons, Colin J. Walsh and Evan (Pete) Walsh; several cousins; and her "adopted" daughter, Diane Kingsland, and her husband Roger of Altamont, NY.

A private memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at the family's convenience in August at St Patrick's Catholic Church in Port Henry, NY, and she will be put to rest alongside her parents in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Moriah, NY.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no calling hours.

Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes of 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs(584-5373).

Donations in her memory may be made to the Capital District Humane Association, Inc., 89 West Street, Mechanicville, NY 12118.

Marietta's family expresses their sincere gratitude to the staff of Community Hospice of Saratoga for all of their support and caring assistance throughout Marietta's final weeks of life.
