Sept 23, 1936 - Palo Alto Tribune - In our last issue mention was made of the death of A. Scott Ormsby, which occurred at Iowa City Tuesday. The body was brought here for interment. The funeral was held Friday afternoon. The pallbearers were: Joe Hoyt, Earl Beebe, Dr. H.R. Powers, George Hawkins, and Harlan Soper of this place, and
J.W. Baker of Osage.

A. Scott Ormsby was born in the old town of Emmetsburg, July 21, 1872. He was the son of the late Mr and Mrs A.L. Ormsby. When he was about 12 years of age they moved East. He was a member of one of Emmetsburg's most prominent families. He attended the public schools here when a child, and also attended various colleges in America and Europe.

He united in marriage with Miss Grace Pullen here. Three sons were born to this union. They are: Alvin, Bradford and Dick who now reside in California. His wife died some years ago. His second wife, who survived him, was Helen Warren of Boston.

During the was he served as captain in the Military intelligence department of the U.S. Army. The family established their home in Emmetsburg in 1891 and remained here until 1900 when he went to California and remained until the war. His wife went to Italy.

A Scott was well and favorably known here. His father was an extensive landowner here and he engaged in the same business. He was an intelligent gentleman and exceptionally well informed. He was a gentleman always and had a spirit of good fellowship which made him a general favorite. He was a thirty-second degree Mason, a past master of the local Masonic lodge, and a Knight Templar. He will be missed in Emmetsburg and will long be remembered by his friends.

Besides his widow and 3 sons, he is survived by 2 sisters: Mrs Daisy Richards of Mt Vernon, WA and Mrs Alice Andreane of Rome, Italy. Sincere sympathy is expressed to the surviving relatives.
