She was born in Henry County on July 2, 1918, to Robert Hill Koger Sr. and Mary Alice Burge Koger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Whitlow; a sister, Magdalene Koger Grogan; and four brothers, Jack Koger, John Koger, Robert Hill Koger Jr. and Bill Koger.
She had been employed at Sanville School as a teacher's aide and in the cafeteria. She was a longtime member of Blackberry Baptist Church, where she had been organist for more than 52 years. She was also a Sunday school teacher and served on various church committees.
Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Charles M. Turner Sr. of Blue Ridge Nursing Home in Stuart; a daughter, Carol Turner Adams of Bassett; two sons, Ronald Turner of Conway, S.C., and Charles M. Turner Jr. of Bassett; a brother, the Rev. Frank Koger of Waynesboro; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Blackberry Baptist Church with Dr. G.H. Vaughn officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Blackberry Baptist Church and other times at the home of Carol and Troy Adams, 72 Boxwood Lane, Bassett.
