Author. In addition to his career with the railroad, he worked as an author of short stories throughout his life. His career as a published author began in 1916 when Railroad Man’s Magazine accepted a short story which then developed into a series. He was especially successful in writing stories based on railroad themes. His short stories also appeared in such magazines as Railroad Stories, Argosy, Top Notch, Smart Set, American Boy, War Stories, Railroad Magazine, and Wayside Tales.
