Alvis F. Jackson, 90, of Lenexa, Ks., died Saturday, October 13, 2002, after a brief illness in Delmar Gardens Lenexa Nursing Facility.
Mr. Jackson was born September 17, 1912 in Norfolk, Va., where he graduated from Maury High School in 1930. He entered Polytech Institute and graduated as a chemical engineer.
During WW11, he served as a Major with the U.S. Army in Europe, climbing with his Company on D-Day the steep French cliffs of Normady at Omaha Beach. He survived unharmed while many others were killed or injured in the fierce fighting. He was honorably discharged and awarded numerous medals.
Married to Sheila Songer Marsh dau. of Boyd and Mamie Compton Songer.
