Ora May Vogan was born to Julius Harlan and Louisa Wilhelmenia Stein Holden in Kansas City, Missouri.
It wasn't long after the death of her father that Ora found her way to a small town called Timberton in Louisiana. It was there that she met and married Charles Franklin Holden on 29 Mar 1913.
Ora had a passion for poetry and filled several scrapbooks of ephemera from magazines and newspapers. Those exist today and are a reminder of her personality and love.
When the Timberton town basically shut down, the family moved to Plaquemine where they remained.
Her later years were spent living with her daughter, Louisa Wilhelmenia and son-in-law William Theodore Willard. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family.
She enjoyed attending church and adored the pastor, Brother Bateman. She was a member of the "Joy Club" there as well. When Brother Bateman left the church to go to another, she was devastated.
Ora's mothering instincts were obvious and her grandchildren naturally gravitated toward her. The love she gave them are treasured memories of a wonderful childhood.
