Mrs. John B. Devalcourt Sr., the former Emma Burleigh, 91 years died Monday night at 10 o'clock at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Alex Peck in the Opelousas-Grand Coteau section. Mrs. Devalcourt had been ill for the past seven weeks.

The body rested at the home of a grandson, Herman Savoy, near Shuteston, until Wednesday morning when services were read at the Sacred Heart Catholic church at a mass. Interment was made in the adjacent cemetery with Lafond and Son in charge.

Mrs. Devalcourt was born and reared in St. Landry, and she leaves ?75? descendants. She celebrated her 91st birthday last August, and was honored by her children at a party and open house.

Mrs. Devalcourt fell about seven weeks ago and suffered a broken shoulder and hip. She was never able to rally from these injuries.

Surviving the deceased are two sons, John Jr. and William Devalcourt, Sunset; four daughters, Mrs. Charles Meche, Grand Coteau; Mrs. Fredrick Burleigh, Sr. Sunset; Mrs. Alex Peck and Mrs. Vatalle Savoy, Opelousas; a brother; Lester Burleigh, Opelousas; ?34? grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; and one great, great grandchild.
