Harry James Harrell was the son of James W Harrel and Lavica Hixon. He was born in Scioto Township in Jackson County, Ohio.
In 1880 Harry was living in Scioto with his parents and four older siblings. He was listed as James Harry Harrel. his father was a farmer.
In 1900 the family was living in Jackson. Father James was a teamster and Harry was a day laborer.
In 1910 Harry was living with his widowed mother in Milton Township. He was employed as a salesman at a grocery store.
On his World War I Draft Registration Harry listed his employer as Mills & Arnold in Wellston where he was a shopkeeper. His emergency contact was his mother Lavica Harrel. Harry was described as being of medium height and build with gray eyes and black hair.
Harry could not be located in the 1920 census but he most likely was still living with his mother. When Lavica died in 1924 Harry was the informant on her death record.
Harry married Susie M Thomas. They were living in Wellston in 1930 and 1940 where Harry was employed as a retail manager for a clothing store.
On his WWII Draft registration Harry reported that he was self employed and gave his wife Sue T Harrell as his contact. Harry had added the second L to his surname by this time.
An Ohio death certificate was not located but Ridgewood Cemetery records give Wellston as place of residence at time of death. Date of interment was September 6.
