Revolutionary War soldier. Enlisted 1779 in Capt. Adial Sherwood's company of New York troops. Captured at Fort Ann by the British and taken to Montreal, spent 3 years as a prisoner. DAR #24155 v.25, DAR #30208 v.31, DAR #37738 v.38
In the Revolutionary War Pension File of Ephraim Thomas, there is a sworn statement of Robert Hopkins dated Feb. 28, 1832. It states his age(77), place of birth, that at age 14 he moved with his father & his father's family to Salem, Washington Co., NY, that 2 years after the termination of the Revolutionary War he moved to Fort Ann, his residence ever since and that Ephraim Thomas was also captured at Fort Ann and taken to Montreal with him.
