Clara B. Smith was born December 1, 1873 in Missouri, daughter of Samuel Harvey Smith and Rosabelle Wickersham. Clara's parents had married on January 1, 1871 in Cass County, Missouri. Clara's mother married again on August 23, 1877 in Lincoln County, Kentucky to James T. Daugherty.

The 1900 Federal Census for Township 6, Indian Territory (Choctaw Nation) shows Clara B. Sullivan, age 26, born December 1873 in Missouri; and her husband, Robert Sullivan, age 37, born January 1863, born in Kentucky. The census shows they had been married 14 years and had given birth to five children, four still living. Living with them was Minnie G., age 10, born October 1889 in Texas; John H., age 7, born April 1893 in Texas; Ruby M., age 5, born July 1895 in Indian Territory; and Katie B., age 9 months, born October 1899 in Indian Territory. Clara and her husband and family were living in the household of her stepfather James T. Daugherty and her mother, Rosabelle. In addition, Rosabelle's mother, Catharine Wickersham, age 90, born in Kentucky, was living in the household.

The 1920 Federal Census for Durant Ward 2, Oklahoma (Bryan County) shows Clara B. Sullivan, a widow and a manager of a lodging house, age 46, born in Missouri; living with her widowed daughter, Ruby M. Murphy, a keeper of a lodging house, age 24, born in Oklahoma. Living with them were three of Clara's youngest children: Charlie Sullivan, age 14; George Sullivan, age 11; and Aubrey Sullivan, age 8; all born in Oklahoma.

The 1930 Federal Census for Durant, Oklahoma (Bryan County) shows Clara B. Sullivan, a widow, age 56, born in Missouri; living with her daughter, Ruby M. Jones, age 35, born in Oklahoma; and Ruby's husband, Tom J. Jones, proprietor of a rooming house, age 40, born in Texas. Also living in the household was Clara's son, Aubrey Lee Sullivan, age 18, born in Oklahoma.

The 1940 Federal Census for Durant, Oklahoma (Bryan County) shows Clara B. Sullivan, a widow, age 66, born in Missouri; living with her daughter, Ruby M. Jones, manager of the Frisco Hotel, age 44, born in Oklahoma; and Ruby's husband, Thomas J. Jones, owner of the Frisco Hotel, age 49, born in Texas.

The California Death Index shows that Clara B. Sullivan, with a birth date of December 1, 1873 in Missouri, whose mother's maiden name was Wickersham, died May 21, 1960 in Contra Costa County, California. Clara was buried in Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma (Bryan County).
