Caspar Durmick (sic Casper Durmich throughout)

Caspar Durmick, the son of John and Cora Durmick, was born April 4, 1872 at Rhoden, Bavaria, Germany. In the year 1887 he came to America and settled in Palatine, LaSalle County, Illinois. In 1894 he came to Iowa, where he has since made his home.

In 1898 Mr. Durmick was married to Miss Mary Miller. Five years later, May 30, 1900 she passed away.

Mr. Durmick remarried again December 31, 1901 to Miss Albertina Engfer. In 1910 they adopted a little girl, [Josephine Celia Eliza Ethell] and a year later a son [Valentine] was born to Mr. and Mrs. Durmick, who, however, passed away a short time after birth.

Early this spring Mr. Durmick and his wife moved from their farm home northwest of Cherokee into a house which they purchased at that time here in Cherokee on West Main. Several months ago, Mr. Durmick suffered a heart attack, and since that time had not been in the best of health. Sunday morning, after breakfast, he sat on the front porch where a short time later his wife discovered that he had passed away. His parents and four brothers and sister preceded him in death.

He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, Mrs. Caspar Durmick, one daughter, Mrs. George Puhrmann, Jr., living on the home place northwest of Cherokee; a sister, Mrs. Mary Glenn of California; two half-brothers, Fred and Edward Dietz of Collis, Minn.; three grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
