Mrs. Luna Tant, 83, 102 Holmes St., died Monday in a Rome convalescent home following an extended illness.

She was born in Paulding County on Oct. 1, 1892, daughter of the late Mattie Haynie Shipp and Mark Shipp and resided there until nine years ago when she moved to Rome. She was a member of New Hope First Baptist Church. Her husband, William Tant, died in 1957.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Bill Storey, Rome, Mrs. Jimmy Bearden and Mrs. Carl Tinker, Atlanta, Mrs. T. Carl Brown, Knoxville, Tenn. and Mrs. Louise Callaway, Marietta; two sons, A. J. Tant, Atlanta and L. E. Tant, Dallas; one sister, Mrs. Verna Crowe; 26 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in New Hope First Baptist Church with the Revs. Henry Moore and James Storey officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery, Dallas.

The body will remain at Martin Funeral Home, Dallas, and will lie in state at the church at 10:30 a.m.

Jennings Funeral Home makes the announcement for the family.
