A lifetime resident of Swiss, Mrs. Haeffner, a daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Fluetsch Gruber, was born July 21, 1889. She attended the Swiss school and on June 29, 1911, was united in marriage with Theo. Haeffner, the couple engaging in farming near Swiss. Mr. Haeffner predeceased his wife in 1958. Mrs. Haeffner was a member of St. John UCC and of the St. John's Ladies Aid of Swiss.
Her survivors are two sons, George H. of Hermann R. 1, and Edwin J. of Mexico; two daughters, Mrs. Herbert (Lulu) Birkel and Mrs. Louis (Pauline) Oberg of Hermann R. 1; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Hug, Mrs. Martha Rehmert and Mrs. Henrietta Locher of Hermann R. 1, and Mrs. Elsie Reinhardt of Fulton; two brothers, Walter Gruber of Berger, and Herman Gruber of Fulton; 11 grandchildren, and four great-grand-children.
