US Congressman. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he graduated from Harvard University in 1786, studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice in law Castine, Maine, until 1820, when it became a part of Massachusetts. In 1797, he was elected as a Federalist to the Fifth Congress, serving until 1799. After his term he was appointed United States marshal for Maine district, serving (1799-1803), then move to Boston, Massachusetts, was appointed by Governor Strong an associate justice of the Supreme Court of Massachusetts, in 1806 and served until his death at age 62.
