Guy E. Harkness, Sr., 80, Elk Point, died Friday at a nursing home in Centerville, S.D., after a long illness.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Assembly of God Church in Elk Point. The Rev. Eppo Wildeboer officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery at Akron, Iowa, under direction of the Anderson
Funeral Home of Elk Point Pall bearers, all grandsons, were Roger Dimmick, Rodney William, Dale Harkness, Ted Millikan and Larry Weyer. A prayer service was at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Harkness was born August 27, 1891, at Akron. He married Anna Tillotson July 5, 1912, in Elk Point. They farmed in the Westfield, Iowa, Richland, S.D., and Elk Point areas until Mr. Harkness retired in 1969. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Elk Point.

Survivors include the widow; five sons, Donald and Arnold, both of Elk Point, Alvin of Hawarden, Guy, Jr. of Akron and Blair of Le Mars; four daughters, Mrs. Richard Millikan and Mrs. Roy Dimmick, both of Hawarden, Mrs. Ralph Livingston of Kimball, S.D., and Mrs. Russell Carroll of Rapid City, S.D.: four sisters, Mrs. Ethel French and Mrs. Pearl Rupe, both of Everett, Wash., Mrs. Lelia Rhoten of Los Angeles and Mrs. Vina Riehle of Burbank, S.D.; 37 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren.
