Bernice E. Hawk McGinnis, 88, of Hummelstown died peacefully Monday, August 25, 2008, at Spring Creek Home in Harrisburg.
Born October 19, 1919 in St. Charles, she was the daughter of Millard and Beulah (Wolfe) Bish. She was married to David McGinnis Jr.

Mrs. McGinnis worked at the G.C. Murphy store in New Bethlehem and at Brookville Hospital. For the last 11 years she resided in Hummelstown. She was a member of the White Chapel Church. Mrs. McGinnis spent a lot of time reading and especially enjoyed her hometown newspaper, The Leader-Vindicator. She also always enjoyed visiting with her family.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Dale and June Hawk of Hummelstwon and Jerry and Marguerite Hawk of Chester, NH; six grandchildren, Terry Hawk of Drifting, Tudy Hawk of Hummelstown, Brett Hawk of Germany, Rona Farley of North Carolina, Jeff Hawk of Georgia and Kimberly Barron of Georgia; 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Luave Delp and Connie Shaffer, both of New Bethlehem.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence "Pete" Hawk; s son, Charles Hawk; an infant grandson; a stepson, Brock McGinnis; a brother, William Bish; and a sister, Valgene Nichols.

Interment will be in Rimersburg Cemetery.
