Jessie was the daughter of Joshua Ed and Laura Amanda Gilbert Webb. She married Johnnie Darrell Hughes, June 12, 1937 in Newcastle. He preceded her in death on October 4, 1983. Jessie was a member of Newcastle First Baptist Church and a Homemaker.
Survivors at time of death included one daughter, Jane Palivec of Abilene; one son, Jay Hughes of Grapevine; four grandchildren, Kevin Palivec of Hawley, Shelley Vasquez of Arlington, Jason Hughes of Wichita Falls, and Samantha Hughes of Graham.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Aaron Hughes, five brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services were held, Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Newcastle with Pastor Jessie Edwards officiating. Services were under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
