Helen S. (Hahn) Brown, 97, of Ottawa, formerly of Hammond, IN, died Thursday night, January 3, 2008 at Community Hospital of Ottawa.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Church with Rev. Philip Halfacre, pastor officiating.
Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, IL.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m.
Mrs. Brown was born on December 23, 1910 in Chicago to John and Sophia (Sroka) Hahn.
She married Michael F. Brown on November 27, 1930 at Holy Trinity Church in East Chicago, IN. She worked for Atlantic Richfield in Harvey Illinois in the chemical department for 26 years. She was a member of St Patrick's Church, Altar and Rosary Society, and AARP.
She is survived by one daughter; Joan K. Barkau of Ottawa; three grandsons, Donald K. Seidel, Mark G. Barkau, and Michael J. Barkau; two great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael F. Brown; one daughter, Patricia Seidel; five brothers, Matthew, Walter, Joseph, Stanley, and Thomas Hahn; one sister, Wanda Sanchez. Pallbearers will be Mark Barkau, Don Seidel, Matthew Seidel, Michael Seidel, Jerry Myers, and Paul Parisot.
Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Church for Mass Intentions
