Martha (Pionke) Laszewski was the daughter of Valentin (Walenty, Valentine) Pionek and Augustina Hennig. She was born in Lebno (formerly Lebno, Kreis Neustadt, West Prussia) and was baptized at Strzepcz (Strepsch) Catholic parish. Martha immigrated to the U.S. with her mother and siblings Anna and Johann in 1881, joining her father and other relatives in Chicago. The family moved to Wisconsin about 1890 or 1891. Martha married Jacob Laszewski about 1896. They had 13 children, including two sets of twins.
