On July 21, 2011, Emily Hosmer Daniels died of natural causes in Westlake Village, CA. She was ninety-one.
Born August 27, 1919 in Ithaca, NY, Mrs. Daniels was the youngest of three children of Ralph S. Hosmer and Jessie N. Hosmer.
Mrs. Daniels grew up in Ithaca and enjoyed the rich college-town experiences offered by Cornell University, where her father was a professor.
After graduation from Westtown Borading School, class of '37 and Smith College, in Northhampton, MA, class of '41, Mrs. Daniels forged a successful career in television production, serving as a script supervisor on TV's first hour long live dramatic show - The Ford Theater, and as the camera coordinator on the first two seasons of "I Love Lucy".
Married to veteran television director, Marc Daniels, in 1951, Mrs. Daniels adopted three children, Amy, Polly & David. She considered raising them the "happiest and most rewarding accomplishment of (her) lifetime."
In addition to being a remarkable mother, grandmother, and wife, Mrs. Daniels spent much of her adult life serving her community in Los Angeles as a PTA President, Friend of the Joffery Ballet, Smith College Club Board Member, and devoted friend and confidante to many.
Mrs. Daniels is survived by her three children and five grandchildren, all of whom share wonderful memories of their mother's and grandmother's joy, playfullness and, best of all, laughter.
At the request of Mrs. Daniels, services will not be held. However, in lieu of flowers and in honor of the many animals Mrs. Daniels rescued and nurtured during her lifetime, she has requested that donations be sent to: The Amanda Foundation, Marine Mammal Center & Save the Redwoods League.
