Milford Merle "Pickles" Dorman, 89, Hebron, departed this life Friday (02/15/08) at the Nebraska Heart Institute in Lincoln. Born to the late Harry John and Amanda Willa (Smith) Dorman at Stoddard, Neb. He spent 23 years in the gravel business, working for Shear Construction and Wright Construction.

Survived by: wife, Bernice; Janice Harvey, Inavale; Jerry Dorman, Alvo; James Dorman, Kearney; and Jay Dorman, Hebron; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday (02/18/08), Grace Lutheran Church, Hebron. Burial: Hebron City Cemetery. Visitation: 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. Sunday (02/17/08) at the funeral home. Memorials in care of the family. Hebron Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Milford Merle "Pickles" Dorman of Hebron, NE the son of Harry John and Amanda Willa (Smith) Dorman was born June 5, 1918 in Stoddard, NE. He departed this life February 15, 2008 at the Nebraska Heart Institute in Lincoln, NE at the age of 89 years. Pickles spent his entire life in Thayer County attending a country school through the 8th grade. He spent 23 years in the gravel business, working for Shear Construction and Wright Construction. He also worked for Hebron Livestock Company, and George Virus Implement. Pickles married Bernice Rose Poppe on April 29, 1951 in Deshler, NE. Pickles was a past member of the Hebron Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron, NE. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, sitting on his porch, and absolutely loved watching his grandchildren in all their sporting events. In the summer, he spent a lot of his time down at the ball field taking in lots of baseball and softball games, no matter who played.

Pickles was very proud of his children and grandchildren, couldn't wait to tell you what they were doing, and seeing all the new pictures.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Earl Harold Dorman, and three sisters Helen Pitts, Mildred Pitts, and Evelyn Davenport, 2 half-brothers Melton and Filmer Knight, and one half- sister Maud Edith Bell.

He is survived by his wife Bernice of Hebron, NE, Janice Harvey and husband John of Inavale, NE, Jerry Dorman of Alvo, NE, James Dorman and wife Doris of Kearney, NE, and Jay Dorman and wife Kathy of Hebron, NE. 7 grandchildren; Jessa Popp and husband Mike of Jacksonville, FL, Jamie Harvey and fiance' Jason Thompson of Ord, NE. John(Boy)Harvey II of Crawford, OK., Nicole Dorman of Kearney, NE, Kammy Kendall of Kearney, NE. Stacey Anderson and husband Lance of Kearney, NE., Brad Dittmer and wife Mary of Marion, IA.; 10 great-grandchildren; Peyton and Addison Popp, Jacob Thompson, Zachary Kendall, Megan and Blaine Anderson, and Calista, Corrina and Kyra Dittmer. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 18, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron, NE. Officiating Pastor Keith Brozek, organist Janet Germer, congregational hymns "Amazing Grace", and "Old Rugged Cross", and special selection sung by Michael Popp "The Lord's Prayer". Casket bearers are Steve Poppe, Lonnie Bell, Mitch Poppe, Lyle Pitts, Larry Wulf, Bill Stierwalt. Honorary casket bearers are grandchildren and great grandchildren and two special friends Sue Pumphrey and Kurk Wiedel. Visitation will be held Sunday from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Hebron Memorial Funeral Home.

Burial will be at the Hebron City Cemetery in Hebron, NE.
