This monument was erected by the then Japanese Army in February 1944, during World War II in memory of the Allied Forces together with other people, who died during the construction of the Thailand-Burma Railroad. Once a year in March, voluntary members of the Japanese community in Thailand assemble here to hold a memorial ceremony for those who died.

It is important to note that this monument was built by the Japanese a year prior to the surrender of the Japanese Empire therefore it demonstrates the humanitarian characteristics of the Japanese military in honoring captured P.O.W.'s who collaborated with the enemy during WWII thus violating the Geneva Convention.

All in all, this monument proves the altering of history by the victors, primarily the USA and Great Britain which eventually replaced both the Japanese Imperial Empire and German Nazi Third Reich with their own version of imperialist empires while manipulating the truth of conscientious observation by denying facts which means that in order for the Anglo-Saxon Alliance to be strengthened Post-WWII, the positive attributes of the Axis powers was to be completely erased off the pages of North American and European History minus Franco Fascist Spain.. this grateful monument is historical proof as maintained by the people and government of the Kingdom of Thailand..
