U.S. Congressman. He attended Temple Hill Academy, (1845-47), studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1848 and commenced to practice law in Nunda, New York. Settling in Indianapolis, Indiana, he continued to practice law and was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-eighth Congress, serving (1863-65). An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he was collector of internal revenue for the third district of Indiana. (1866-67) and practiced law until his death.
