Archie Rector Is Claimed In Death

Thomas Archibald "Archie" Rector, 60 a Eureka resident since 1927 and a motion picture projectionist here for the past 33 years, died without previous illness or warning at about 5:30 p.m., Monday.

Mr. Rector was stricken as he passed along the street near the residence of Mrs. Della Ladd 102 North School Street. An ambulance and a doctor was summoned, but the physician reported that death had been instantaneous.

Mr. Rector started his career as a projectionist in the "silent" picture movie days at the old Regent -theatre and continued in that capacity at the Princess Theatre, where he was employed at the time of death.

He was Greenwood County's champion blood donor. On March 29 this year. Mr. Rector went to Madison to donate his 20th and final pint of blood to the Red Cross. On his 60th birthday anniversary a few days later, he reached the age limit.

Thomas Archibald Rector was born on April 8, 1900 at Neosho Rapids. On June 12, 1924, he was united in marriage with Gladys A. Parker at Cottonwood Falls. Two daughters were born to the union.

Surviving are his wife of the home, 411 North School Street; two daughters, Sylvia, (Mrs. Elvin L. Porter) of Council Grove, and Arleta (Mrs. Floyd H. Grove) of Piedmont.

Also surviving are one sister Mrs. Eva Hildebrand of Emporia; one brother, Roy Rector of Austin, Indiana; the two sons-in-law; ten grandchildren, Lonnie, Gail, Billie, Donna and Reena Porter of Council Grove, and Ray, Sue., Merrilyn, Lenita and Robyn Grove, of Piedmont.

Mr. Rector's gift for affection and friendship is known to many. He will be much missed by relatives, friends and business associates.

Funeral service, conducted by Reverend R. F. Schaechtele, was held from the Baird Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 16, at 2:30 pm. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.
