daughter of Hiram Lunsford, MS - Bell Webb, MS
Bettie Lunsford lived at Valley Mills, Texas until 1876 when the family moved to Lampassas. In 1881, her mother and two brothers moved to Seymour. The family went through scenes of those pioneer days, and lived happy with ties unbroken until 1908 when her mother died. Bettie was a happy child and made friends with everyone. She joined the Methodist church at the age of 12 and was a faithful and willing worker. She organized the Junior Epworth League and under her guidance, the pulpit chairs were purchased.
On 4 January 1899, Bettie Lunsford married C.D. McKeehan. They were married 22 years until the earthly bonds were broken by death. The devotion of this couple and the care the husband gave to his wife in her illness. Sleep, rest and attention to his business affairs were of small moment compared to the welfare of the one he loved, his only regret was that he could not keep her. Mrs. McKeehan was taken with a form of dropsy.
Services were held at the home with Rev. Callin W. Yates officiating.
Mrs. McKeehan loved people and was especially attentive to the children and old people. She loved flowers and good books. She loved the Bible and read a chapter a day from it all of her life. She was supervisor of the knitting class and had 58 children in the class, besides older peiple. She was active in the Red Cross. She could knit a sweater in a day.
Survived by her husban; two brothers - R.H. and W.E. Lunsford; one uncle - S.L. Webb of Seymour.
