Wife of David Tate (1789-1868) and eldest daughter of Jeremiah Chamberlain (1740-1829) and Margaret (Carmichael) Chamberlain (1765-1821), of Grainger Co., TN. Mary (Polly) Chamberlain first married Solomon Massengill (1782-1814). She was originally interred in the Chamberlain family cemetery in May Spring, TN, but her body was removed with other burials in the early 1940s to Martha Sunderland Cem., Hamblen Co., to make way for Cherokee Lake. Children: Mary J. Massengill (1812-1843); Narcissa F. Massengill (1814-1891); Margaret C. Tate (1816-1851); Wm. B. Tate, Sr. (1819-1903); Comfort K. Tate (1822-1904); Jennet Tate (1823-1909); David Tate, Jr. (1825-1864); John K. Tate (1826-1835); Elizabeth Tate (1829-1835); Edward Tate (1830-1835); and Tennessee J. Tate (1833-1916).
