Mrs. Riddle Of Broadway, Dies
Funeral Services To Be Held Thurday Afternoon
Broadway, Dec. 18
Mrs. Mollie Humes Riddle 68, wife of Newton J Riddle and well known resident of Broadway died this morning at five o'clock at her home in Broadway.
Although she had been in declining health she had been active the past month or two.
A daughter of the late Richard "Hick" and Hannah Vanpelt Humes, she was born at Edom on February 7, 1877.
She spent her early life in Singers Glen section, but had lived for a number of years in Broadway, where she was well known and held in the highest esteem by all.
On March 25, 1903 she married Newton J. Riddle, who survives her.
Mrs. Riddle was a faithful member of the Baptist Church from early in life and took an active part in the affairs of the church as long as her health permitted.
Besides her Husband she is survived by four children, Joseph Riddle of New Market, Jesse Riddle of Mathias, David Riddle of Harrisonburg, recently returned from overseas, and Miss. Virginia Riddle at home, One brother J.T. Humes of Harrisonburg, and one sister Mrs. Dillie Kline of Washington.
One daughter, Miss. Willie Riddle died April of 1933 and one son Frank Riddle died in 1935.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at two o'clock from Broadway Baptist Church with her pastor, Rev. George Herring assisted by Rev. Scott C. Hutton, conducted the service.
Burial will be in the Linville Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Active: H.A. May, William A. Rhodes, Carl Showalter, L.B. Branner, L.D. Rhodes, and W.T. Beamer.
Honorary pallbearers: A.W. Whitmore, H.T. Whetzel, A.S. Runion, E.C. Whisler, Belmont Biller, C.G. Pence, and George B. Williams.
