R&B Singer, Choreographer. Original member of The Temptations. Born in Ensley, Birmingham, Alabama. Paul, along with Eddie Kendricks, formed their own group, "The Primes." Without a contract, they joined Otis Williams of "The Elgins." In 1961, the name changed to "The Temptations." Paul was the original choreographer. He sang lead vocals on "I Want a Love I Can See", "No More Water in the Well" and "Don't Look Back." With the addition of David Ruffin, Melvin Franklin & Dennis Edwards to the lineup, The Temptations were one of Motown's biggest acts and cemented their status as one of the most influential vocal groups in the history of popular music. He was best known for his live performance, "For Once In My Life." Paul's health and performance began declining and in 1971, he left the group. In January 1989, Paul was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Temptations.
