He served in the United States Navy, as a St Louis County Police Officer, and later as Mayor, Judge and Commissioner of Police for the City of Hazelwood. Ed was a life long member of the Lions Club, Gideons International and the American Legion Post in St Louis.
Ed married twice after the passing of his first wife Helen and mother of his only child, Charles. At the time of his death he had four granddaughters, four grandsons, and one great grandson. His third wife afforded him two step daughters and many step grandchildren during their ten year marriage.
