Mrs. Louis Steineke
Gertrude Mae Schlieman was born near Fonda, Iowa on July 3, 1893 and departed this life on December 10, 1928 at her home in Hartford. While still a young girl she moved with her parents John Carl Schlieman and Christina Dorothy Drafahl Schlieman to Marion, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood and was educated in the school at Marion.
About 18 years ago she came with her parents to the vicinity of Hartford, South Dakota. In March 1917 she was married to Louis Steineke and to this union were born six children. Five of whom with her husband survive: The children are Janet, Agnes, Ruth, Maurene and Marvin. The infant son only lived six days.
Besides her husband and five grand-children she leaves to morn her loss, four brothers and sisters. Carl, Fred, Martin and John Schlieman. Mrs. J.L. Scherer (Sarah), Mrs. Mrs. J.C. Levasseur (Louisa), and Mrs. Adolph Johnson (Martha).
Mrs. Steineke was a true Christian woman in every way, always kind and loving, uncomplaining at all times. An ideal wife and mother. Funeral services for Mrs. Steineke and infant son were held at the M.E. Church in Hartford at 2 o'clock. Interment in the Hartford Cemetery. The profound sympathy is here, with extended to this home from which a loving wife and mother has parted and the sorrow stricken relatives.
