"Suggested edit: CLINTON - Bernice M. Pratt, 86, of Clinton, died on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at Maine­ General Medical Center, Thayer Unit, in Waterville.
She was born on Dec. 4, 1916, in Albion, a daughter of Andrew and Clara (Ridlon) Dow. On March 26, 1938, she married Earl C. Pratt in Winslow. Mrs. Pratt was a homemaker most of her life. For 25 years she served as secretary of the Ladies Auxiliary Willett-McKenney American Legion Post 186 in Clinton.
She enjoyed reading and making puzzles. For many years she put together craft kits that she would give away as gifts or donate to the local fairs.
When able to, she loved to go fishing, work in her flower gardens and canning. In later years, along with her husband, she attended Brown Memorial United Methodist Church in Clinton. She will be remembered by family and friends for the great fudge and apple pies she baked.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Earl C. Pratt of Clinton; one son, Daniel C. Pratt and his wife, Marianne B., of Clinton; one daughter, Ruth Ann MelIan of Colorado Springs, Colo grandchildren Gretchen M. Malloch and her husband, Scott, of Carmel, Jessica R . Mellan of California; great-grandchildren, Kendra Windrix and Grant Windrix, both of California; one brother, Ervin S. Dow and his wife, Virginia, of Albion; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m, on Friday, Oct. 17, at the Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday with the Rev. Ervin Scott Dow officiating. Burial will follow at Green­ Lawn Rest Cemetery in Clinton. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, Fairfield."
