Services for Bertha Worthington Alford of Rosser, Kaufman County, an active member of community organizations, will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Sparkman-Hillcrest Northwest Highway Chapel, Dallas.

Mrs. Alford, 52, died Thursday at Presbyterian Medical Center in Dallas.

A native of Dallas, she lived at her family's Flying A Ranch in Rosser. Her husband, Fred F. Alford, is president of Alford Refrigerated Warehouses Inc. and is mayor of Rosser.

She was a graduate of The Hockaday School and attended Mount Vernon College in Washington, D.C., and Southern Methodist University, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

She served as corporate secretary to the board of directors of Alford Refrigerated and was a member of several warehousing and frozen-food professional organizations.

Mrs. Alford was a supporter of the Scurry-Rosser school district's home economics program. She donated cookbooks, cooking equipment and instructional videotapes to the schools.

The Scurry-Rosser Future Homemakers Chapter named her Honorary Mother of 1986.

Mrs. Alford is survived by her husband; a daughter, Bertha W. "B' Alford of Dallas; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William F. Worthington of Dallas; and a sister, Amy Davis of Austin.
