Gerald Dewayne Daniel, 66, son of Loys and Imogene McKinney Daniel, was born Dec. 19, 1936, in Texas County. He died Dec. 30, 2002, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston after a long illness.
He grew up in Texas County and was a carpenter. He served in the Army during the Korean War. While in the Army and in high school, he was a member of the boxing team.
He married Carolyn Sue Buckner May 28, 1970. They lived at Houston for 29 years. For the last three years, they lived at Licking.
Mr. Daniel operated the Raymondville Service Station for a short time. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and gigging. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are his wife of the home; two daughters, Monica Daniel of the home and Tammy Hill of Raymondville; one son, Rick Daniel of Raymondville; one brother, Terry Daniel of Tama, Iowa; three sisters, Merna Brown of Gladbrook, Iowa, Joyce Dunigan and Rita Ice of Houston; five grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.
Graveside services with military rites were Jan. 2 at the Ozark Cemetery with the Rev. Kendall Ford officiating under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
