Herbert Edward Mills, 68, of Route 1, Robbins, passed away Monday morning, October 1, 1990, at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. He was the son of the late Charlie Mills and the late Celie Thomas Mills and was also preceded in death by one infant daughter; one brother, Robert Mills; and one sister, Tannie Lackey.
He was a veteran of World War II. Mr. Mills is survived by his wife, Gladys Norman Mills of Route 1, Robbins; one daughter, Allessia Byrd and husband, Donald of Oneida; two sons: Troy Mills and wife, Wilma of Spring City, and Van Mills and wife, Mary Etta of Robbins; four granddaughters; three grandsons; two brothers: Hobert Mills of Hartford City, Ind., and Homer Mills of Helenwood; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted from the West-Murley Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, with Rev. Floyd Cowan and Rev. Kevin Whittenburg officiating. Burial was in the Concord Cemetery. The Oneida American Legion Post #136 was in charge of full military honors at the graveside. West-Murley Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
