Harvey Okley Gill, known to family and friends as Buck, was born October 3, 1931 in Balch, Arkansas to B.A. and Nettie (Mross) Gill, the fourth of seven children . He was raised in and around the Fisher - Waldenburg area of Poinsett Co., Arkansas. After graduating Weiner High School in May 1950, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served as a Private First Class in The Korean War from May 1950 to May 1953 until he was wounded and honorably discharged. After marrying Gladys Roberts in 1955, they moved to California and settled in McFarland where they remained until both of their passings. Harvey worked in agriculture last being employed at Superior Farms as a foreman. He was proud of being a U.S. Veteran and belonged to The Merle Reed American Legion Post 124 in Delano, CA. He enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening and raising birds. Harvey was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Gladys in February 2005. He is survived by his two children, two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two brothers and one sister.
