LUCILLE HOPE AYERS KERNS, 86, of Proctorville, Ohio went home to be with the Lord Monday, July 11, 2011, in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House surrounded by her family. Lucille was born February 5, 1925, in Alderson, W.Va., daughter of the late Robert and Georgia Cornwell Ayers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, James Handley Kerns; one brother Robert "Bud" Ayers; two sisters, Leona Booton Garrett and Oretha McConnell Farmer; a special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nancy and Roger Skaggs. She is survived by a daughter Deborah Jobe and her husband Bob of Catlettsburg, Ky.; a son Bernie Kerns and his wife Teresa of Proctorville, Ohio; three grandchildren Joshua King who is serving in the Middle East with the U.S. Army (Stephanie Webb), Amanda Mulvaney (Zach Wilson) of Huntington, W.Va., and Ashley Ellis of Lavalette, W.Va.; a very special great-granddaughter, Eryn Riley Mulvaney. Lucille was a homemaker and always put her family first. She was of Baptist faith. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Hospice for their compassion and care in her final days on earth. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio by Pastor Don Irby. Entombment will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. Visitation will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.
