Leona Laura (Eikelman) Hood, age 81, of Westcliffe, Colo., made her journey home on July 10, 2011. She was born April 27, 1930, in Westcliffe. She is survived by children, Keith Hood of Westcliffe, Jacqueline Garner (Charles) of Wellington, Texas, Ken Hood (Kendra) of Fowler, Colo., and Donna Lyons (Gary) of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; grandchildren, Autumn Steinert (Matt), Brandi Havens (John), Tyler Kalous (Angela); Cody Kalous (fiance, Jennifer Coulsen), Trevor Kalous; and Lacey New (B.J.); four great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, James Christoff of Westcliffe; and special friends, Steve and Whitney Short and family. Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Merwyn, in 1997. She also was predeceased by sisters, Bessie Miller, Myrtle Christoff and LaNeil Turner; and a grandson, Shane Morgan. Visitation, noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2011, Hope Lutheran Church, 312 S. Third St., Westcliffe, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m., also at the church. Interment will follow at the Hope Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Fremont Regional Hospice, 1439 Main St., Canon City, CO 81212.
