Apolena Homolka was born in Plzen, Czechoslovakia, Sept. 7, 1874, and passed from this life Sept. 12, 1958, at the age of 84 years, five days.

She came to American at the age of 18 years, first to Omaha, Neb., and then to McCook.

April 9, 1896, she was married to Frank Anton at Hayes Center, Neb., where they homesteaded, and made their home for several years. To this marriage were born eight children, three of whom preceded her in death, as did her husband, who passed away Febr. 19, 1946.

Mr. and Mrs. Anton moved to Saline County, then later to Fillmore county, near Exeter, and made it their home.

Mrs. Anton was a member of the ZCBJ Czech Lodge at Milligan for over 50 years, having received three years ago her 50-year membership pin, of which she was very proud. She was a kind and loving mother and neighbor, and was loved by all who knew her.

Her passing leaves three sons, Frank of Geneva, Fred of Exeter and Paul of Crete; two daughters, Agnes (Mrs. William Rozanek) of Exeter and Frances (Mrs. Joe Slepicka) of Pocatello, Ida.; two brothers, Joseph Homolka of Ulysses and John Homolka of Surprise; one sister, Mary (Mrs. Joe Anton) of Port Angeles, Wash.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Interment was in the Milligan National Cemetery. Pallbearers were J.W. Dinneen, Anton Krejdl, Leo Koehn, Leo Starr, and Robert Gibbons.
