Lethe Ann Fair, daughter of James Fair and Anne Glasgow, was born the 13th day of January 1825 in Prosperity, Newberry Co., South Carolina. Known as Lettie by her family, her father was a successful planter, served in the South Carolina Legislature and a Trustee of Erskine College in Due West, South Carolina.
Lettie Fair met her future husband while he was studying at Erskine Theological Seminaries and in 1842, she married Rev. David Pressly, son of Samuel Pressly, M. D., and the former Miss Elizabeth Hearst of Cedar Springs, South Carolina.
On April 7, 1843. Rev. Pressly was installed pastor of Starkville A.R.P. Church; so Lettie settled in Starkville raising her young family. This union produced three children. Their first son dying in Due West, before they moved.
Lethe Ann Fair Pressly departed this life near Starkville, Oktibbeha Co., Mississippi October 15th, 1849. She is buried in the A.R.P. Cemetery.
