Harry E Adkins, 76, of Springfield, passed away Thursday May 19,2011 in Springfield Regional Medical Center.
He was born March 29,1935 in Morehead, Kentucky, the son of George and Alice (Wright) Adkins.
Mr. Adkins was retired from Navistar in 1984 and was a member of UAW Local 402.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years; Norma (Mefford) Adkins, two daughters; Joyce Leach and Jennifer Adkins (Dave Huff) Dayton, one sone; Jeffrey (Cindy) Adkins, Springfield, grandchildren; Brandi Rice, Ryan Leach, Chad Adkins, Springfield, Aaron Goings, Urbana, great grandchildren; Logan Leach and Karsen Rice, Springfield and Chad Adkins, Chessire, Ohio. Five brothers; Alfred Adkins, California, Homer Adkins, Maryland, George (Mary) Adkins Jr., Jack (Connie) Adkins, John (Joy) Adkins, Indiana, one sister; Eleanor Garrison, Mansfield, step sister; Fanny Rutherford, Washington Court House and several nieces and nephews and cousins. He was proceded in death by a brother Carl, sisters, Juanita Bardbaw and Mary Hopewell and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Monday in the Jones-Kenny-Zechman Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Miller officiating. Visitation will he held for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery.
