Elizabeth Crabtree Death Attributed To Shock From Fall

The fast dwindling ranks of Idaho Falls pioneers lost another member Wednesday with the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Blair Crabtree, 81, mother of a prominent local family. Mrs. Crabtree had resided here since 1895, when Idaho Falls was known as Eagle Rock. Her death at 6 o'clock Wednesday morning in the home of a son, Raymond B. Crabtree, Idaho Falls City Councilman, was attributed to old age and shock suffered when she fell and broke her hip during a visit at Twin Falls six weeks ago.

Taken Home:
She was taken from the L. D. S. hospital to the home of her son two weeks ago. Mrs. Crabtree was born December 4, 1859, at Salt Lake City, the daughter of Seth M. and Elizabeth Blair of that city. She was married October 10, 1881, to Charles Samuel Crabtree, who died here in 1937.

At Lewisville:
The couple came to Idaho in 1890, settling at Lewisville. They moved to Eagle Rock five years later in 1895, and Mr. Crabtree was engaged here for many years as a building contractor. Relatives said many present day buildings and residences were built by the pioneer. Mrs. Crabtree in turn was active over a long period in local L. D. S. church work. Nine sons and daughters were born to the couple, and six survive. They included: Raymond B. and Dr. G. B. Crabtree, both of Idaho Falls; Mrs. W. J. Steele, Pocatello; Mrs. Cliff Packer, Idaho Falls; Mrs. Charles Shirley, Twin Falls, and Mrs. Fred S. Hatch, Los Angeles, Calif. Mrs. Crabtree also leaves 23 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, as well as two brothers and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Crabtree, Idaho Falls; Mrs. Henry Stringham, Salt Lake City; John Blair, Fresno, Calif., and Preston A. Blair, Ogden, Utah.
The body is at the Wood funeral home.
Services have been set for Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Idaho Falls L. D. S. Second ward church with Bishop H. M, Groesbeck officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill cemetery.
