Julius came to America from Germany about 1861 then to Omaha via Missouri. A history of Prospect Hill says "he was a merchant tailor who came by boat with his daugher Josephine". He lived and worked in Omaha, until his death in 1880. The Wolf's Omaha Directory for 1878-82:THIELE,JULIUS H., merchant tailor deals in clothes, cassimeres, vestings, etc. Business: 484 13th., Res. 747 17th St. Several men are listed as working for him: Frank Fonderlick, John Fleigel and Wenzel Fanfarlick.
After Julius died, Mrs. Julius H Thiele's name appears in the Omaha directory, as "Tailor", until her death 2 months later.
He and his wife, Crecencia are buried in lot 98 with his daughter Josephine G. and her husband George W. Ketcham and several of their younger children.
